I woke up a few weeks ago with a need to paint nests. The symbolism of the nest: home, safety, and the instinct to protect and nurture children isn't lost on me as the last two of my four children prepare to leave home - the nest I made for us. When they leave, they leave a part of them (figuratively and often literally) and this transition is a vulnerable time as we face the inevitability of change.
